Villa dei Tasso, also known as La Celadina, dates back to early 1500s. Its parade of rooms and halls decorated with stuccoes and frescoes makes it a sumptuous residence which hosted the famous poet Torquato Tasso, author of the Gerusalemme Liberata, and the painters Giambattista Tiepolo and Francesco Zuccarelli. The main Villa and the surrounding agricultural estate were a symbol of the Tasso family wealth and prestige. The family, native from Cornello dei Tasso, a medieval village in the Brembana valley, was the founder of the modern European postal service and its members were Imperial Postmasters for centuries. This allowed the family to reach the highest ranks of European nobility.
